Welcome to our new range of Rome Lady Plus Size tights.  It is absolutely true that these tights will fit from UK28 to UK42 ...and even more!  The secret is in the fabric and the design of the tights. 

Laura, the owner of Big Bloomers - those of you who have helped us to develop the Big Bloomers range of Plus Size knickers and tights already know her,  has been living in Italy for the past 18 months or so working to get these tights to you.  It has been far from easy. Manufacturers didn't want to know. They said that there was no call for large Plus Size tights, especially in colourful shades.  Laura insisted that there most certainly WAS a call for Plus Size tights especially for colourful shades.  Eventually, after a year of visiting the lingerie manufacturers throughout Italy - and improving her Italian on the way, she had some luck.  She came across a hosiery company which had recently been inherited by the founders grandaughter.  A woman!  A female! As luck woould have it, she was plump too. at last, Laura had found somebody who would listen.  She explained that the problem was not so much that there was insufficient fabric in the hips and gusset, it was more a case of fat thighs having to poach fabric that was in fact meant to belong to the gusset and the hips!  This has been causing a great deal of discomfort for plus size women ever since tights were invented and it was a problem that Laura had to get across to her manufacturer so that they could then work together on a design that would leave the gusset where it should be and accommodate big thighs without tearing the tights apart at the seams.   After much discussion with our customers, it became obvious that the answer lay in making tights with much greater elasticity and stetch in the thighs.  Persuading the manufacturer to invest in a larger barrel so that the legs of the tights could be made fuller rather than simply making a wider gusset was not easy and that's what's taken the time.  After the decision to make the tights according to Laura's design was agreed, then the new barrel had to be designed and made before the tights could be put into production.

  So, ladies, that decision was taken over a year ago and many of you reading this will remember that Dianne - who runs the warehouse just outside Falmouth in Cornwall has been promising you all Plus Size coloured tights for so long that you've probably given up believing in her.  However, three weeks ago, Laura was phoned by the manufacturer and told that the Plus Size coloured tights made with the new larger barrel had been manufactured and were about to be dyed in five different shades.  Such excitement!  The following week, Laura drove to the factory and picked up the first ever collection of Milan Lady tights in navy, plum, bottle green, chocolate brown and olive brown  - she then drove straight back to the UK so that we could get them onto the website for you.
